Yunel Escobar had 4 hits as the Tombstone Huckleberries beat the North Dallas
Fire Ants by a score of 6 to 5.
Tombstone had 5 runs cross the plate in the 5th inning with the help of 4
hits. The key at-bat was by Mark Ellis who silenced the crowd when he
cleared the bases with a Grand Slam homerun (his 9th of the season). North
Dallas made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed
runs across.
The winning pitcher was Roy Halladay(8-8) who allowed 3 runs in 7 and 1/3
innings. J.J. Putz gained credit for his 24th save. Erik Bedard(6-9) ended
up with the loss. Tombstone scored big getting 5 runs off him in 4 innings.
Despite losing Adam Arnett was optimistic after the game. 'We'll get over
this one. Sometimes the breaks fall your way, sometimes they don't. Any one
of a dozen little things go different, and we come out on top.'
